A US citizen does not need a tourist visa in order to visit Israel. Just have a US passport valid for 6 months upon entry to Israel.
To all nationalities: Anyone entering Israel needs a passport valid for at least six months from the intended date of entering Israel.
Please Note: Anyone traveling to Israel as a tourist must travel with a round-trip ticket.
The request for a visa MUST be made in person. No need to schedule an appointment.
There are two different visa types. Please find the requirements for the visa most suitable for your needs:
• Tourist Visa
• Student Visa
Requirements for a Tourist Visa:
- Completed application form
- Two current passport pictures, facing forward (size 2" x 2")
- Valid passport or travel document (validity must be at least 6 months from intended visit date)
- Round-trip airline tickets or itinerary.
- Valid re-entry visa to the United States or a copy of permanent residency (Green card) - non US citizens.
- Letter from employer, stating you are currently employed and authorizing vacation.
- Reservation details of hotels or address where you will stay in Israel.
- Proof of ability to finance the trip (pay stubs or bank statements showing sufficient funds are acceptable; alternatively, receipts for trip expenses.)
- Processing fees:
- $22 (Non-refundable administrative processing fee)
- Optional $8 mailing charges
- All fees are to be made in cash, credit or money order to the Consulate General of Israel to New England.
We do not accept Personal checks.
- Processing time is approximately 1 weeks.
- Business travelers should submit, in addition to the above: invitation from company or conference organizers in Israel and a letter from the local employer detailing the purpose of the trip and the funding for it.
Requirements for a Student Visa:
An American citizen who is going to Israel as a student can request a Student Visa. Please note that the Consular Section will only issue a student Visa for one year. If you need to extend your student Visa, please do so with the Ministry of Interior in Israel.
- Completed application form
- Two current passport pictures, facing forward (size 2" x 2")
- Original letter of acceptance from your University, Yeshiva or educational institution.
- Passport or travel document that is valid for more than a year from the date of entrance to Israel.
- Round-trip airline tickets or itinerary.
- Statement from your bank showing that you have funds to support your stay in Israel while you are a student, if you are a minor you can bring a statement from your parents bank.
- Valid re-entry visa to the United States (excluding a tourist visa) or a copy of permanent residency (Green card) - non US citizens.
- A minor under the age of 18, must present a notarized letter from both parents permitting him/her to travel
- Processing fees:
- $48 (Non-refundable administrative processing fee)
- Optional $8 mailing charges
- All fees are to be made in cash, credit or money order to the Consulate General of Israel to New England.
We do not accept personal checks.
- Processing time is approximately 1 weeks.
